I realize that to many of you foriegners, the minimum wage must sound great and that if you are making that much an hour then you don't need a tip.
That bit put a smile on my face. It's just too stereotypical.
To come back to one of AK76's observations:

Loosely interpreted: it's not uncommon for Americans to think anyone not American is primitive.
The Euro at the moment is about $1.02, and I think the minimum wage (from age 23 up) here in the Netherlands is about E7 hourly. Cost of living in Europe doesn't differ much from cost of living in the USA, and I believe the rates in Japan are roughly equal too. Coming back to your quote: that minimum wage sounds as great to me as it does to you - it's below the poverty line.
One thing I solemnly swear: I will tip in American rstaurants. I never knew it was this bad. |
