I left in Jan 2001.
So it appears I'm still famous. :-P
All the ranting about SCO/Windoze gave it away, no-one else uses that combination AFAIK.
Don't worry about ditching SCO - It's too stable & good to be thrown away, plus Alan wrote Sigma as a million lines of spagetti code, so they'd have to start from scratch if they wanted too.
They tried years ago to get WinNT to handle serial data (autodial) in the volumes that SCO does & it can't be done. Project was called GOLD. Cost about 2 million GBP & nearly broke the company.
It was later resurrected as Sigma2 - A Windoze client for the SCO box & quite probably the worst software I have ever met. One bit (the directory client IIRC) was so awful that the 1st version of the Support Guide said: "If you find a customer using this software, tell them to STOP!"
So, who are you then and have they changed that nasty pink background in Sigma Web yet?
My update:
I used to work for JK (96-99) and then went to run Support upstairs for 18 months. I left in Jan 2001 to run European Support for a company called BroadVision in Reading. We're based on Solaris, but with versions for HP-UX, AIX & W2K, all the back-endy stuff on ORA.
Then they RIFfed 80% of the company. So now I spend my days fixing idiot users & their problems all over...
Incidentally... I have NO qualifications in IT whatsoever, so don't let being under-qualified hold you back! |
