For myself I bought a 185GB hard drive, (the shop didn't have any 120GB and I wanted it *now* damnit) 120GB hard drive (not arrived yet) scroll wheel mouse and Retrospect Express. This little lot transforms my old DVSE iMac from 'the machine in the cupboard' into 'the fileserver'. When the 120 arrives, I'll take the 185 out of the iMac (because it only sees 128GB of it) and stick it in the firewire box instead, to be the backup drive.
From other people I got:
Some rather flashy thongs (from gran of all people), The Italian Job on DVD (somebody has broken into my toilet), chocolates (belgian), a candle (with things in apparently), a big book on the Kyoto collection (18th-20th C fashion) with a promise of three more ordered from waterstones, metric weights for my kitchen scales (I suppose other people might want to cook in my kitchen) and a Breville sandwich toaster (let's see how long it takes me to break the handle off this one by over-filling it)
Oh and money. Which will go towards paying for the kit I got myself. Birthday early jan, and current wishlist is 1) 20GB iPod (should take all my MP3s if I take out the children's TV themes and stuff) and an embroidery sewing machine. Recommendations on these would be appreicated. |
