The iPod is typical modern apple stuff, in that It Just Works.
I have just upgraded my old-style iMac, so that I could get rid of the old PC fileserver. I also put a scroll mouse on it, and have so far found a grand total of two uses for right-click. Ahem. Anyway, I work with PCs, I don't want to deal with them at home. At home I want something which I just turn on and it does what I want without BSODs.
If you're using 98SE now, you will *worship* OSX. Is nice. Is pretty. Does not crash. Unix underneath the pretty. Talks to PCs happily. Get the iMac, if only for the sake of your hairline. Oh and if you *don't* think it's pretty, you can use a linux WM, though I've never felt the need to try.
