You see, our society is almost guaranteed to fail at some point. Pick you favorite extinction level event, or maybe world war three? An eventual collapse of social order as we know it seems highly likely. Besides, there is a region of India where folks with no health care live to be 80 (was in my psych text last semester, if you want a speific source I'll try to dig it up). Give them the resources we have and who do you think is likely to stay ahead?

Besides, if you wish to base your evolutionary statements on the gadgets and education, the most genetically fit (i.e. 'fittest') with access to the best gadgets and education would be optimum.

Oh, by the way... until you can manipulate genetic code to a fine enough degree and with great enough understanding to select any trait(s) you wish, you can't completely remove the fittest bit.
