1. A group of people lives in grinding poverty, with no access to decent food, health care, education, or hope. They are also subjected to violent upheavals in the changing of ruling parties and wars with their neighbors, often resulting in huge numbers of women and children being raped and/or forced into prostitution. The men are fed lies and pernicious misinformation about their disease, the women have no right of refusal and no legal recourse if attacked, and what testing exists is sporadic in its results, and virtually no treatment.
2. A group of people living in comfort in some of the wealthiest nations on the planet, with access to decent medical care, excellent nutrition and free education for 12 years, with an option for higher levels, if they desire. They have resources for learning everything on almost any topic readily available via their computers, public libraries, college courses designed for working adults, public symposiums, conferences, and health care clinics. Despite this, they persist in willful ignorance on a topic that currently is affecting millions and millions of people all over the world, prefering instead to just sit around, making snide remarks about the lack of education on the part of the poor. |
