so I will just ask a quick question that has been provoked by several sub-threads here and keep as many of my opinions to myself as I can.

Many people in this thread refer to how easy it is to avoid AIDS, etc. and conclude that therefore money being used to research AIDS could be better used elsewhere. My question is, wouldn't it make sense to spend money researching AIDS if for no other reason than to be able to better protect yourself from it?
