but there have been numerous occasions where I would have been fully justified in saying "I told you so" and didn't... part of the problem is he thinks that he's more mature than anyone else because before he came to University he spent a year travelling on his parents' money, whereas I came here straight from school... he doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that I have been here more than three years now, living on an extremely restricted amount of money, and have watched committee after committee make precisely the same mistakes as he's now making, and I tried to stop him making those mistakes. He doesn't seem to realise that the simple fact that I have had a harder life than him (harsh but true; he was never bullied at school, I was, to the point where one of the bullies made an attempt on my life) and am older than him by a couple of years (with the concomitant extra time to work out who I am) means that I am likely to know more than a little about whatever issue he's not grasping. As I said, I have a low opinion of his intelligence, and I've never hidden from him the fact that I find him petty, self-righteous and irritating.
