AIDS is one of those conditions that is ideal for sensationalism. Sadly.

...if your political leaders refuse to acknowledge the link between HIV and AIDS...

There's exists a deeper argument, that the HIV virus has never been isolated and therefore there is no gold standard to test for. I'm not convinced that HIV is not linked to AIDS, but on the same note I'm not convinced it is.

Of course, I keep myself safe. No sense in risking other STDs even if HIV proves to be a debacle.
