Does World AIDS Day tick off anyone else? by slayer 2002-12-01 16:17:46
This isn't the black plague; It is completely possible to prevent if you stay away from behaviors associated with a risk for the disease. And yet, countries all over the world demand that I help pay for the "epidemic".

I'm sorry, but if your political leaders refuse to acknowledge the link between HIV and AIDS and your social leaders tell you raping virgins will cure the disease, then I'm not shelling out a dime to keep your people alive.

Does anyone have any idea just how hard it is to pass on the disease? Even direct body fluid to body fluid transactions often don't transmit the disease during casual contact.

And yet, world leaders continue to clamor about the need to find cures, and waste money, time, and expertise that coud be spent curing unpreventable diseses such as cancer, alzheimers, and a slew of other genetic disorders.

AIDS is a problem alright, but only when it takes professional resources that would be better used elsewhere.
