The cowboy hat helmets were discontinued--nobody would wear them since they were hideous.
English helmets have come a long ways. When the first ASTM/ANSI helmets came out, they were so heavy that riders actually suffered from whiplash when in a fall. The weight would cause the skull to snap back and forth (happened to me).
They are very lightweight now, but the problems are still the same: hot, tend to slide in your eyes, look unattractive when competing, and if you have long thick hair like mine, the helmet causes your scalp to itch. Decides, the price is still steep $65-$299. The higher price fits well and doesn't slide in your eyes. If you fall, then you have to throw it away. Not a pleasant thought. |
