No joke. I've over 15 years experience on m/c's. Your helmet is designed to absorb 1 large impact. Only. It may look fine on the outside, but the polyurethane impact absorbing material between the shell and the lining is now compressed, and unable to absorb further impact. You won't even be able to see it from the inside, but that's the fact. You might tell with "the quarter test".
Tap a quarter (any coin) along the exterior of the helmet. At the point of impact, you will hear a subtle change in the sound. That is the hollow spot where the cushion is compressed. Can't be fixed, should be ignored only at your peril.
