Or are they more likely to "gloss over" the means of gathering the information in the interests of a conviction?

I'm sorry but if there is any hint of impropriety in the obtaining of a confession the jury shouldn't be allowed to hear it. The only reason that this is even an issue to you is because you've already convicted them in your own mind and don't want to see them freed. Can you in all honesty say that if you believed the defendents to be innocent you'd still have brought this up?
