But we are entitled!! by stargirl 2002-11-11 12:07:12
We are entitled to get good jobs, whether or not we deserve them, to get good grades, even if we didn't earn them, to make lots of money, to ignore charities, or people worse off then us, to rack up lots of debt, to make a mess out of our lives because we don't want to take responsibility for our actions. Whats wrong with that?? </sarcasm>

I actually have a friend, who's grandmother gave him money for college (he flunked out) who's father bought him a car (he got tired of it), bought him another car (he totaled it), bought him another car (its old now..he doesn't like it). His father told him if he goes back to school, he will pay his rent and all his bills, and everything, just for going to school. Result: He is over his head in debt, his cell phone got turned off, his car got towed (lack of payment), he is flunking out of school, he isn't happy. He keeps complaining that his parents don't treat him like an adult, and that he hates how he lives his life, and yet he doesn't change anything.

My thoughts aren't why do people feel that way, but how do we stop teaching/passing on those values to our kids, and how do we get above that?
