And that's why she would take 40 years to pay off her debt: how can she possibly exist at a standard of living even close to what she is accustomed to if she had to put money towards servicing her debt? She feels she's hard done by, by having to take a salary of 50K a year instead of the glorious 100K which she is evidently "entitled" to. Western values (particularly in North America) are like that. We feel we're owed a luxurious life, whether we work for it or not.
