Question of the Day! by kickstart2006-11-19 12:23:33
  It's a tie by bugarup 2002-11-11 09:59:09
between 5h grade maths and 9th, 10th and 11th grade Latin teacher. Since I cannot remember much about the former except my sheer dread and disgust of her, I'll describe the latter.

Her appearance was that of the stereotypical evil fairytale witch. Hooked nose, plain black clothes, scary laugh ... you name it, she'd got it. And from the sound of her voice, her nose was chronically congested. While I understand this is a medical condition she is most likely not responsible for, it was very distracting ... in those rare moments when you actually tried to pay attention to her (which was never a good thing to do ... 90% of her lessons were spent ranting about how stupid we were because we couldn't grasp the simple concept behind a three-page run-on sentence, and how did we dare to be thirty seconds late when we were obviously in such dire need of learning, etcetera), you kept itching to blow your own nose in sympathy.
To top it off, she was bitter and cynical. While that did provide for some enjoyable witticisms as long as you weren't the target, it didn't make her any more likable.

I'll give her that, though: Apparently she did care for us, and did want us not to fail. She even agreed to hold an extra lesson on grammar every Wednesday afternoon (a fact that she never failed to bring up in her rants about how much she did for us without being appreciated). And in the three years I had to spend with her, I gained much insight into the mindset behind the grammatical structure of Latin. Even if nobody else in my class did.
