If you mean that a good debater doesn't spew forth scripted answers, you are correct. The answers must be tailored to the opponent's statements. However, you must be prepared for everything in advance, or you are likely to lose, assuming that your opponent is a good debater too. All it takes is one good argument that you cannot refute to hand victory to your opponent.
