I wasn't talking about looking at both sides. Actually, I WANT people to be able to see both sides.

What I was commenting on was the linked comment which linked debating to a military campaign, and put forward looking at the other side only to be prepared with arguments to refute it.

I hope I'm making it clear that looking at both sides is good. I just worry that if you're only looking at the other side to prepare arguments against it, you may close yourself off to the real message the other side is trying to deliver.
