| A question on debates ... |

Ok, I ran across This post somewhere else on UF, and it got me to thinking ... is debating a good or a bad skill? or is it one of those things that depends upon the use to which it is put.
I would think that by preparing arguments, counters, and etc... in advance, a person would be less likely to LISTEN to or CONSIDER the other side and what the other person is saying. I think that all too often in our society and world, people are so caught up in their own ideas that they frequently take this tactic.
OK, just my rant against pre-selected rebuttals ... IMnsHO, they close off the communication and everyone loses... |
