you can compile ntfs write support into the kernel, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's highly experimental and rumored to fubar any ntfs partitions that are written to by Linux. Supposedly there is a program that will correct the damage Linux does to an ntfs partition after writing to it, but do you really want to take that chance with all your MP3's? I didn't think so. ;-)

I would suggest getting a program like Patition Magic that will convert ntfs to fat32 and converting the ntfs partitions to fat32 if you really want read and write access to them. XP won't care if the partitions are fat32. You just won't have very good file security and you can't have files larger than 4GB.
