Why, do you suppose, can't I successfully remount my /mnt/nt in read-write mode? (The rest of this post is just general
See, I had been restoring my backed up music files from multiple CDs to their rightful places on Y:\ on what had, until recently, been purely an XP box. (It's now a dual-boot beast) Then I thought "I should start doing these things in Linux," you know, start with the mundane and just generally get to know the way Mandrake works...but I've run into a problem. I can't put anything new onto /mnt/nt (aka "Y:\" though I have a feeling you've figured that out). Well, I grumbled for a little while, then figured I ought to check if I have permission to write to it. I didn't. So, I signed in as root, and still didn't have permission, but at least this time, I could do something about it...right? *sighs* No. SO, LinuxConf tells me that it was mounted in read-only. I say "well, let's not do it that way anymore then, m'kay?" It tells me to go to hell. What am I doing wrong?
Oh, also, as long as I'm complaining about how helpless I am when it comes to this whole "alternative OS" thing, how can I change the type of mouse I'm using? I miss the wheel. (It's still there, but when I set it up, I told it to just pretend like I had a standard three-button wee beastie, since I couldn't find the 'proper' option. Now I don't know how to fix it. I figured out how to change how sensitive the mouse was (which was also driving me nuts), but nothing about general layout.) Any suggestions?
