Linux firewalling by arachn1d 2002-11-04 15:36:09
Ok, so I've been fiddling around with linux firewalling the last couple of days.
I've managed to create an alternate ruleset that makes my computer entirely invisible to everything I can think of, (unless _it_ initiated the transaction), while still not crippling the capabilities of the computers that access the internet through it. I've still got the original ruleset, because I fairly frequently need/want to access it from other locations, such as work or uni.
What I'm wondering is if it's possible to create some kind of funky setup that allows me to 'decloak' my computer remotely, preferably only to the computer that sent the 'decloak' command. I was thinking along the lines of a ping packet with an unusual size, but I can't see any way to either filter based on packetsize or execute commands based on matching a rule - any suggestions? Yes, this is probably a waste of time, but it's an _interesting_ waste of time (for me, at least).
