will eventually get you killed (as in rear-ended and DEAD) here (if you didn't get ticketed for "impeding the flow of traffic" or simply shot in the face by one of our imfamous road rage retards)... where do you live that they make you go so sloooowwww...?
In our metropolitan area (700,000+) the speed limt is 65 mph on the Interstate(s). Once you get out of town, it's 75 mph. During my morning commute (40 miles), if you're doing anything less than 80-85 mph, you better be in the slow lane
I rode year round for over 9 years (yes, even in the snow) and still ride as often as possible...True, you have to be more careful on a bike -- "defensive driving" in a cage means watching out for "stupid" behavior. "Defensive RIDING" means you must approach it a little differently -- you assume nothing - you know that ALL cage drivers are stupid. They will do the stupidest thing possible, at the worst possible moment and in order to survive you MUST have at least 3 "action alternatives" -- I can't count the times the additional acceleration, superior braking or additional manuverability of a motorcycle saved me from an accident that a cage driver could never hope to avoid (yes, their chance of survivability is greater, but this is offset by the increased probability of collision)
you gotta remember, for every motorcyclist that offs him or herself by doing stupid things, 7-8 are murdered by inattentive cage drivers who don't pay attention and are incapable of understanding that motorcyclists have the same rights and privledges as a car. Motorcycles are not inherently more dangerous than an automobile, what's dangerous is having to share the road with morons.
