either forbidden use of carnal knowledge or simply for using carnal knowledge...it's probably one of those things that, like the origins of Ring Around A Rosey, are completely false, but they do let people sound much smarter than they really are.
Because, you know, knowing where old things come from is a mark of a superior intellect... *grins*
Oh, just out of curiosity, does anyone know how reliable Snopes is? They seemed like they checked out pretty well, but I was hoping for a second (or third through seventy-eighth) opinion. (They also, by the way, have something to say about the origins of the word in question.) |
