| Does anyone know of a way to copy a user list from an NT domain to a Windows 2000 Professional computer? I really don't want to have to add all these by hand every time someone gets a new laptop. Here's what I'm getting at: Presently, our domain controller is running NT 4, and most of our workstations are in a workgroup instead of the domain. Lately, we've been ordering our new computers one at a time, with Windows 2000 on them, and replacing them as needed. Our laptops are often taken out into the field to client's offices and linked up through hubs for filesharing. As it is right now, if someone wants to access a file that's located on a Windows 2000 laptop, they've got to log in as the owner of the laptop, which is rather a security compromise once everyone knows each other's passwords. I've tried getting everyone to use a generic all-purpose username, but that won't fly, and so I thought I'd just set up all the users on each laptop as a local user with only file-reading capabilities. This is why I needed to copy to user list down. I know it can be exported, but I have yet to see a way to import it. Any ideas? Anyone? Thanks if you can help, bug off if you can't. ;) |
