| It was a great confidence-builder, and it had more to do with knowing I did well than getting an award. I came out of it satisfied with my performance, having overcome my nervousness to do as well as I believed I could. If I had gotten third or fourth or even last place because the other contestants had simply been better at their art, I still would have felt good that I performed well, and didn't let my nervousness get the better of me.
I fully intend to compete often next year (this was the last tournament of the season). One of the main reasons I always wanted to study a martial art was for the forms. I love watching them, and I love to perform them. Sparring I can do without - I'm not really into fighting, I just love having balance and control and all that. :)
Are you also a martial artist? Just curious . . . |
