my brother came home from japan. Then the other fellow came to visit for a bit then he returned home. As a matter of honour the host family when my bro was there took him out for a steak dinner. The steak apprently good quality and shipped from the US I think cost $500. I got told that hard to have land to raise cattle due to so many people and stuff. So meats are hard to find so they eat shellfish or are more vegitarian.<shrug>

The guy anyways when comming here thought we were rich. Far from it though we were upper middle class. But many things people take for granted here are considered a luxery here and in other countries. Similarly he was suprised to find that we treasure certain things found in his culture easily that maybe he took for granted.

Weirdest food item I heard they ate was deep fried leaves.(looked kind of like a bayleaf) Most intresting pet was a small dog that they keep up komono sleeves(or little birds)

As for the fyos stuff well hmm bath houses there and geshia's are the norm and not a big deal... now the really fyos stuff I can't say obviously but searching the more umm "intresting" parts of the net might prove enlightening...

I found though the visitor we had to be very polite. Gentle, quiet, and intellgent. He was almost too quiet and polite.(yes too much of a good thing gives you the creeps)
