Cable Internet disruptions really suck... by greyhat2002-11-02 16:07:05
When I first had an ADSL connection by mauritsvanrees 2002-11-02 16:27:02
me and my roommates had frequent disruptions. That was fixed later, but the temporary solution was to go four floors down to where our little server stood (old 486) and reset it. It then took about five to seven minutes for it to boot completely. At least that gave us ample to get back to the third floor :-)
One day we noticed our computers upstairs couldn't connect to the server. We went downstairs to the basement. Hey, it's wet down here! It had been raining too much too fast. Both DSL modem and computer stood in say five millimeters of rain. Not good. Modem was kaputt, but KPN Mxstream was kind enough to replace it for free.
