Tape storage question... by rockitanski2002-11-01 11:08:41
I used to have a tape backup by Arienadean 2002-11-01 13:50:00
it was on smaller drive scale I was backing up though. I had a backpack drive and used the 250M tapes. What happens is the level of compression varies depending on types of files. Also depending on what OS your backing up it may or may not of cleared some temp files that get thrown in the mixture. Also occasionally some OS (well windows anyways) sometimes complain they can't copy a file due to it being in use. So occasionally the odd file may be omitted or not the same for that reason. Also finally the tapes themselves vary.(but ack can't remember how as it's been at least 2 yrs since I used a tape drive now)
