It *translated* into something bad. American English is a dilect, not a whole different language[1].

So it'll be one of the other European countries. "Shag" isn't particularly bad here. I'm pretty sure I could go around saying "shag" without anyone being particularly offended (and, yes, it's a type of carpet - shagpile (*snigger*)).

[1] Not in any way a fact, but I still maintain that both are English, and American English is just a slight mutation of it
