After seeing the MIT OCW's lab in software engineering course, I've decided I am never taking one :p i think i'll learn about abstraction and object oriented design on my own. I'm not really that Java smart, so I can't help you out, but I can relate, with the hard-to-install crap. Kinda reminds me of a little program called SENDMAIL, which I am glad I ditched for Exim.
