  Right direction? by borg389 2002-10-19 13:14:02
This is the first chance I've had to try solving this thing again since last week.

From Kickstart's clues, I believe that he is doing a straight key swap. Gridding it with a nickel and dime would suggest that the actual text is read down (1st letter, 6th letter, etc). It could also be by 10, but I trying it with 5 right now.

With that in mind, I've so far got this:
encrypted text:
+>£$,,-#.#&.:%(=(-\^+$)[&>=,-]=#+[,#£-&:-^£$@*/*¥_

encrypted text in grid format:
+>£$,
,-#.#
&.:%(
=(-\^
+$)[&
>=,-]
=#+[,
#£-&:
-^£$@
*/*¥_

encrypted text in the proper sequence:
+,&=+>=#-*>-.($=#£^/£#:-),+-£*$.%\[-[&$¥,#(^&],:@_

There is exactly 26 letters in the base string (clue #6), so it seems likely that they are the basic english alphabet is some order, with no puncuation or spaces.

Kickstart, am I going in the right direction here?
