umm actually you can my cousin does it all the by arienadean 2002-10-19 02:19:34
time. Typically its some form of lab she's bringing back and forth and its for a visit. She also could help me get my son a therapy dog for a much reduced cost from the US trained then bring it into canada.

If the animal is purebred it needs its breeding certs I think... also the animal needs a vet check. Afik they only quarrentine certain animals. But long trips are hard on any animal and some vaccines just like for people vary between countries. Also so does the vet bill charges for a certificate of health. I forget how long they hold animals if they do. But some animals are prohibited I think, others have the wait in some cases, and others its not that big of a deal on. But you'd have to confirm it with customs.

I could ask my roommate though maybe as he used to do airport security and customs at times years back and probably ran into the import of life animals rules before as well.

You are though generally prohibited from bringing across alot of fruit, veggies and meats. Because the quality control is diffrent and health standards. So since foodhandling is diffrent they wont allow it in as it might cause illness up here.(of either plant life, or other living thing) But depending on where what items is comming in from slightly diffrent rules apply. Some forbidden things are specific to certain places I think.<shrug>
