Slackware is good if you know what you're doing but not the most user friendly if you aren't used to linux. But then I haven't used it since version 1.2 kernals so I may have imporved a lot since.
Suse I just didn't like.
Red hat was unusable.
Mandrake was nice and easy to get up and running.

I've heard good things about Debian but never tried it.
