perception doesn't define truth. The staged theft occured via a specific set of events, and each of those events occuring is both factual and truthful. Anything that contradicts those truths must therefore be false. Period.

The only time perception defines truth is when the only defining fact in existence is the individual opinions of the observers, in which case each person is essentially a different circumstance.
