An interview with our very own skeptic by Illiad2006-11-19 12:55:59

Clash of values again... by skeptic 2002-10-18 13:45:03

But when your class room is emptied 5 times a day for daily prayers + coffe breaks + 3 hour siesta, you have alot of time to think and wonder why you should help 'em out...?

This is an excellent demonstration of the same issue of difference of values. Namely, your values say that a man has to be punctual and dedicated. Their values say that a man has to be devout and relaxed.

This conflict caused you to think they are worthless. They probably thought you were a fanatic infidel. :)

Perhaps the best thing to do in such a situation is to explain what personal benefits are gained from punctuality and dedication. People are marvellous at changing their values if they have something to gain by it - so long as you don't get pangs of guilt about attempting to change other people's values. Anyway, this would at least give them the knowledgeable choice between their relaxed way of life and your productive one.
