... the way my luck has gone, by the time my system needs any serious upgrades, someone somewhere drops a pretty much new computer in my lap. Its nice.

Price range, I was thinking likely around $1800-2000 maybe more. I would likely try and get a laptop so that also leaves upgrading out of the question somewhat. Since I'm unemployed this will take quite a while, but then again even when I am employed I'm broke. :)

I have a decent PC which I can game on and I do a little bit of graphics stuff, so even if games aren't supported on a Mac I can still play them here.

From what I've heard Macs aren't bad when you start swapping components around. I have a friend that completely stripped three Macs, swapped the parts around and added some new ones and the system runs fine. *shrugs*
