This was a very good story, and very worthy of posting here. If it was originally writted in German, then posting it as such (or even since it was the language you're most familiar with) is no problem whatsoever. As has been demonstrated, many people are more than willing to lend their efforts to producing a translation, and you did a good job yourself. Please do not hesitate to post things of this nature in the future in whatever language you prefer, although if your English is as good as it appears then I would selfishly ask you to post as such only so I don't have to wait to understand it :-) But seriously you did nothing wrong and by posting this have uplifted many people, myself included.
