| Is it just me, or has the whole idea of building a computer become too easy? I mean, look at it this way. Video, sound, etc. is onboard with most manufacturers now, so when people build a basic system, they don't have to do most work. All the cables are keyed so they go in the right way with no real fuss. What happened to the fun of building computers? Expansion cards, and RAM, fitting the CPU, all the niftacular fun of building something like a 486, or P1 board. Now all you have to do is put in a system board, hard drive, CD, floppy and you're good to go once you add a monitor. Most on-board stuff sucks anyway (32 MB generic onboard video w/D3D, low quality sound, software modem, 10/100 NIC). |
