Nature might, but humanity is just an anomaly that could stop tomorrow. Ignoring our resources as you indicated is a nice step in that direction.

And soccer moms _may_ make up a significant portion of some societies, but generalizing that to the majority is a wildly unfounded and improbable thing.

Change is inevitable, and your argument seems to be in defiance of changes for the better. Your only rationale being that "it seems to be working now, cause we're all here, so of course it will continue unchanged forever."

Consider that there were no alcoholics before the invention of alcohol. Consider that advances in science may one day enable us to prevent that problem altogether. Consider that simply allowing the bad stuff to continue because you happen to be comfortable enough is a really silly idea.
