| Had Ms Stanton skipped the reproductive stage |

of her life, she might not have had the drive or stamina to do what she did, nor would she have had the credibility of someone who can say, "Yeah, I've done the mother bit - and how - and I can handle a lot more. Give me that damn ballot already, Sparky, if you know what's good for you."
But that time is long past - society in much of the world has progressed to the point that we know she was right. Women are equal to men in all the things that count. What's not equal is different for different purposes, and should not be used to determine worth. Apples and oranges.
Progress throughout history has been a struggle against common prejudices and "conservative" folk who refuse to accept that they aren't the pinnacle of social development. Progress has a long road still ahead of it.
Not everybody needs to reproduce. And certainly not more than their own place. One couple should have no more than two kids. Essentially, if you've been married to one person and had your two, then your next marriage should ideally be barren from your side of things. This is not an attempt at forcing a quota, but it is an ideal of how to avoid the huge resource depletion we are facing - and that conservative elements loudly exclaim to be a nonissue.
It is a shame that someone with as firm a grip on sense as yourself would voluntarily take yourself out of the gene pool - I think you have a lot more to offer than a number of people who keep mucking up the deep end. Welcome to our crappool. Notice there is both 'p' and other unsavory items in it. Won't somebody please help clean the dang thing? |
