Is there a life "after"
Once twin brothers were born in a lap. Weeks passed and the boys grew up. As their knowledge and awareness of their environment their delight became larger:
"Say, isn't it great that we were begotten?
Isn't it wonderful that we live?"
The twins began to discover their world. When they found the umbilical cord that linked them to their mother and gave them food they sang of joy:
"How large is our mother's love that she shares her own life with us!"
When the weeks passed and became months they suddenly realized how much they've changed.
"What does this mean?" one of the twins asked the other.
"That only does mean" the other replied "that our stay in this world will be finished soon."
"But I don't want to go at all!" the one answered. "I want to rest here forever!"
"We don't have a choice." the other retorted. "But perhaps there is a live after birth..."
"How could that be?" the one doubted. "We will lose our live string, and how shall we be able to live without it? And moreover: There were others who left this lap before us, and no-one of them has came back and told us that there is a live after birth. - No, birth is the end!"
So the one of the twins worried bad and said: "When conception ends in birth, what does the live in the lap mean? There is no meaning! - May even be there actually is no mother beyond all."
"But she has to exist" the other protested, "how else could we got here? And how could we still be alive?"
"Have you ever seen your mother?" the one asked. "Perhaps she just lives in our fiction. We just think of her to better understand our live!"
And so the last days in the mother's lap were full of questions and fear. Finally the moment of birth has come.
When the twins left their world they opened their eyes. - They cried.
What they saw was far beyond their imagination.

I'm not bilingual at all (oh God, I've only learned three years in school, some technicial writing and - *sigh* - UserFriendly forums ;-) ), and I'm not even a good writer in German. But maybe you can at least understand a bit of the storyline.
