Multiple User Dungeon/Dimension. It's a game, basically. I run a game called United Dreams (see my diary, I won't sell you the address here) for 3 years now. Mudding is like playing role-playing games, such as AD&D, or Labyrinth. You just do it online ;) There are very many different kinds of Muds, varying in style and theme. Look for George Reese on the internet; he wrote a couple of articles about Muds that are very interesting and comprehensive.
