no matter what form of deity one believes or disbelieves, I don't know anyone who thinks their deity would create 10% of the population in such a way that they cannot love and be loved within the fold of that deity's worshippers...
Leaving out the rightness/wrongness of homosexuality:

The Bible says that people are hard-wired to be evil. Yet it condemns evil as wrong. AND moreover it says that humans CANNOT of their own volition stop being evil. BUT God still requires righteousness (i.e. absence of evil).

That sounds even more harsh than what the quote above, doesn't it? And yet that is much of the basic message of the Bible.
