I think diffrent branches/locals of the catholic church follow diffrent things sometimes. My roommates parents church still adheres to the original teachings on messing about out of wedlock as well as in wedlock. Also they have the older views on a few things probably. My roommates mom reads the catholic news paper they get that by the canadian diocese or whatever its called...(bear with me its been awhile since I've attended catholic or anglican church). Anyways she still insists on the old teachings. She lived in a convent for most of her youth. My roommate was also an alterboy(he was born '65) and the rules he was raised under until a young adult and taught in catholic school here were the other less modern ones. He actually talked with DaNutBall on religion when he was here. DaNutBall is from a more modern congregation I guess because several things he was taught were quite diffrent from what my roommate had. My roommate is no longer a practicing catholic he's a newager(intrested in shamanism) and DaNutBall is a practicing catholic...(devout I think) :)

Anyways the points you've made I also heard from DaNutBall and we've figured that the churches here have elected to follow in some cases the earlier rules set forth.<shrug> So probably other places vary as well... so add that in and its hard for some to get over old notions on the church.<shrug>
