yes, it is deeply ingrained... in me, as well as many others of my generation.... on a rational level, I know that this deeply-ingrained feeling of disgust is irrational, and I try hard not to let the feeling affect my actions.... prejudice cannot be swept away by snapping your fingers (sorry for the mixed metaphor) -- it will take generations.
