Quote: there's nothing unnatural about homosexuality
Now I'm not homophobic, I don't hate gay people, etc. But I do want to bring up one point in regards to this statement. Whether you believe in evolution, creation, or whatever, basic biology tells us that the sexual act has a primary function, and that is procreation and the continuation of species. Biologically, only a male and a female can achieve this. A homosexual couple cannot physically procreate. Therefore, one must assume that there is something "unnatural" about homosexuality. I may be mistaken on this, but to the best of my knowledge there are no animals who participate in homosexual acts as humans do.
Now I have absolutley nothing against sex for pleasure, I'm not a Catholic who believes that "Every Sperm Is Sacred". I am not even disgusted over homosexual acts, although I can say that I do not believe I would enjoy it personally. But, even without bringing in my "ingrained brainwashing from the pulpit", you have to admit that on a basic level there is *something* "unnatural" about the homosexual act.
Now as I have said before, I do not hate gay people. I do not in any way condone people who are actually "homophobic", according to your definition (i.e. hate crimes). But through an independant study in the Bible, and searching to understand the Bible further than what is taught from the pulpit, I have come to my own conclusions. I believe that based on the Bible, and the fairly unequivocal passages such as you stated (such as Romans 1) that homosexuality is against God's charachter and design and therefore it is a sin. I think that the arguement that Jesus didn't mention is specifically is a load of dingoes droppings, omission does not equal permission.
Now as I have said before, I do not have a problem with homosexuals. What is done between two consenting adults that does not affect me is not sometihng I should interfere with. I will state that it does not agree with my beliefs and my religion, and if you believe you are a Bible-believing Christian and yet you see nothing wrong with homosexuality then I would like to rationally discuss things with you more deeply.
It is also my own personal belief, from observations and experiences with some people I know, that people are not "hardwired" to be gay. I believe that this is, to a large extent, a type of excuse for people who want to try to convince people like me that they can't help it. I believe that some people are born with an genetic inclination towards homosexuality, but no more than people are born with a genetic inclination towards being an alchoholic or a glutton. I personally have a genetic inclination towards being an alchoholic. My grandfather was and the trait skips a generation (although my father does also drink some). Does this give me an excuse to be a drunkard, just because "I was born that way"? If I am born with an inclination to be overweight (and some of my best friends are), should I just sit back and eat as much as I want, since "I can't help it"? Or should I make every effort to overcome my genetic predisposition and be a healty, productive human being? (Note: I do not have any problems with drinking or eating themselves, any more than I have a problem with the sex act. The problem comes when it is taken to the excesses.) As I have said, I have a predisposition towards alchoholism. I have chosen to never drink alchohol. Homosexuality is a choice, and I will admit a very difficult one at times for some people. But it is a choice.
