look at my son and deny him access simply because he's half chinese, despite being born in canada, having a passport, having no criminal record, etc I will turn around and not enter the US. While I'm not american born I *am* part irish american. My brother isn't american yet but he and his wife live there and frequent trips back and forth. For all I know my brother probably has been profiled as he's a business man and travels quite a bit.(whose to say that at some point either way where he goes hits some "objectionable countries to visit" list and add in he's a business man that he'll get hassled). My grand neice is also 1/2 black and canadian born to a canadian mother and american father. I'd hate to see them profiling her when older simiply due to her race as well...
I see racial profiling as racist... if they profile it should be all races. I've also delt with racism on both sides of the issue... whites I found racist to others and other races that were racist against other groups. I told them I didn't agree with them though they can believe what they want<shrug> and that I didn't appreciate certain comments infront of my kids.
I wonder how the president in the US would respond if other countries did profiling on americans or people who had been born there... |
