I think your argumetns have power, but what about the huge weight of writing by the saints and the church's threw the centuries?
St Augustine basically said 'If it's fun, it's probably bad.' I think he thought you should be thinking of God, well, always. If you weren't you better be doing things necessary to life.
Sex with a member of the opposite sex to produce children is necessary, sex for fun is not. Funny thing is, that while the prohibition against homosexuals has remained strong, condoms seem to be just fine.
But that (I think) may be part of the evolution of the bias. |
