If you can get it and AR variant carbine would be excellent. while less accurate the AK-74 would also serve admirably. Though personally I feel the ergonomics leave much to be desired. If none of these are available a 30-30 lever action carbine could easily serve in this capacity. It goes without saying that all of the above would be complimented by a handgun of sufficient caliber. (9mm/38spec. or higher) Prefer a .45 myself.
